Podcast Editing – Telling the Story
The real power (and quite frankly the most fun) is in the editing. For a lot of people anything technical is pretty scary, but this is different.
If you really want to, you can spend hours taking a deep dive and learn everything there is to know about audio. Get yourself a Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) with tons of buttons, sliders and fancy meters. Or if you’re like the rest of us you can get a software program that takes care of the details, learn a half a dozen commands and start creating some compelling stories.
When you’re the editor you use voices, sounds, music, tempo to draw your listeners in. Keep them involved and help them create the scene and feel the emotion. You are the conductor, these are the instruments and the symphony is the visual image you co-create with your listeners. An image that will last long after the tape is over.
